BORN AT DAWN FOCUS: KARI ERICKSON, FOUNDER OF LIFE BUTTER

This week our #BORNATDAWNFOCUS is on Kari Erickson Founder of Life Butter, a podcast and website dedicated to both celebrating and demystifying wellness and beauty. She was previously a lawyer but last year decided to follow her passion and LIFE BUTTER was born.

We asked her a few questions about her life…

Why did you decide to start Life Butter?
I’ve always been interested in looking after myself - identifying the things I can do to look and feel better. Learning how to improve your health, beauty and happiness is empowering and fun; it’s a conversation that I want to be a part of. And I have always been interested in journalism and presenting - the radio format is perfect for me! But as the wellness industry has grown, it’s also become overwhelming. Life Butter is your wellness edit - we present the simple, fun & proven ways that you can enhance your wellbeing. Because it matters, but only if it’s enjoyable - otherwise what on earth is the point?

Describe yourself in 3 words.
Driven, Irreverent, Considered

What makes you happy?
Learning new things and revisiting the distant past. I love history!

Who and what inspires you?
Working mothers everywhere!

How do you personally define success?
I don’t! At least I’m trying not to. Our quest to both quantify and hoard success is at the root of a lot of modern unhappiness.

You are obviously very busy, how do you cope and manage to juggle it all?
I do not even pretend to be able to do things I know I can’t; I find people who can. And I’ve learned to live with a bit of mess!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
All shall be well, all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well. It’s a quote by Julian of Norwich and my father used to repeat this to me when I’d get stressed. Essentially, no matter what it is, it’s all going to be ok.

What’s been your biggest life or career lesson?
There is no substitution for hard work.
